Too Much

Anxiety around being disposable,
it's too much.
Holding on to everyone and everything all the time,
it's too much.
Conscious, but unable to wake up,
it's too much.
Our ancestors are screaming out instructions and we can't follow them fast enough,
it's too much.
We are grieving losses yet to come,
it's too much.
We are vigilant in our anger and ignorant of our purpose,
it's too much.
We literally can not breathe,
it's too much.
Our faith is grounded in deceit,
it's too much.
The waters we once waded have now become too deep,
it's too much.
Our battle cries are now just screams,
it's too much.
Penalized for kneeling on one knee,
it's too much.
Bodies bounded by brutality,
it's too much.
Anxious prayers and fear fueled fights,
it's too much.
It's too much to carry.
It's too much to hold on to.
It's too much of climb over.
It's too much weight to bare.
It's too much to lean into,
so let it go,
and breathe.
